The New South Wales Department of Justice actively promotes energy conservation and efficiency through its Green Grants program that provides funding for improvement projects.

The courts and tribunals have used Green Grants for projects such as installation of energy efficient lighting, heating and cooling, rainwater tanks and using recycled water.

Find out about the department's sustainability measures in the Annual Reports.

The preservation of our heritage buildings is extremely important. Our dedicated Asset Management branch is responsible for maintaining the 123 courthouses throughout the state that have some form of heritage listing.

The department maintains a Heritage Register that details these courts as well as some historic Aboriginal sites.
